SouthFit offers a one-semester, non-credit class to prepare you to be a group fitness instructor(G.F.I.T.) or personal trainer (P.F.I.T.). Both theoretical knowledge such as anatomy,physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and kinesiology as well as hands-on skills are emphasized. The course will also provide instruction on how to obtain a fitness certification.
Students can get a discount on fitness certifications from the American Council on Exercise.
Cost: $25 for USA students, $50 for USA faculty/staff/Rec Center members, and $75 non-USA. Payment is due by the second class meeting. Fee includes an American Red Cross CPR/AED certification.
Date & Times: Mondays and Wednesdays, August 28-November 8, 2017 at 4:30-5:30 PM in the Student Recreation Center classroom. Please register below and you will be sent class details.
Skills Covered: Warm-ups, cool-downs, class design, music, cueing, posture, alignment, safety, exercise modifications, and more.

Our staff is available for private lectures or fitness classes for your university group. Lectures can include risk factors for cardiovascular disease, hydration, ChooseMyPlate nutrition, and how to set up an exercise plan. Fitness classes include all types of classes offered by SouthFit . We have provided private classes for:
Private lectures/classes can be held at the Student Recreation Center or your campus location. Please email email@example.com to request a private lecture/class. The fee is $45/hour and we provide all handouts and/or equipment.
We are happy to give short tours (20-30 minutes) of the Recreation Center to Freshman Experience classes (CAS 100), Concepts of Health & Fitness classes (PE 100), or any other group on campus.
